Eric grew up in Hunker, Pennsylvania, a small town in rural southwestern Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and switched his major several times before deciding to major in Chemistry. After graduation, Eric worked for PPG for a year as a chemist researching new coatings (and occasionally watching paint dry for a living). He is currently a fifth-year grad student working on expanding the substrate scope of the asymmetric allenic Pauson–Khand reaction and applying it to total synthesis. When he is not in lab, Eric enjoys mountain biking, fishing, hiking and sports. A fun fact about Eric is that he had four pet ducks.
